Iran will not surrender, US-Israeli soft war will fail: Top general
Tehran - BORNA - Maj. Gen. Ali Abdollahi, chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces and commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, made the remarks during a specialized meeting of officials involved in countering soft warfare.
Abdollahi said Iran is facing what he described as a comprehensive hybrid, soft and cognitive war.
“Explaining the narrative of war and staying ahead of the kinetic battlefield is a major art,” he said, stressing the importance of shaping public understanding of the conflict.
Referring to what he described as miscalculations by Iran’s adversaries, Abdollahi said a nation that relies on God would ultimately prevail.
“The Americans have not heard ‘no’ from any country for more than 80 years, and before their aggression against Iran, their mistaken expectation and assumption was that this great nation would surrender,” he said.
“That is a false illusion that will never materialize.”
The top commander said the United States and Israel were attempting to offset their regional and military setbacks in the war against Iran and the resistance front through soft and cognitive warfare and economic pressure.
“But, by God’s grace, through the courage of the people and the prudence of the country’s officials, they will certainly fail in this arena as well and add another defeat to their humiliating record in the military war against Iran,” he said.
Abdollahi stressed the need for national cohesion and the mobilization of all available resources to confront cognitive and information warfare.
“We must use all national and transnational capacities against the enemy in confronting soft and cognitive warfare,” he said, adding that commanders and officers operating in this field carry significant responsibilities.
He also highlighted the central role of media and strategic communication, saying a significant part of the confrontation is a “battle of narratives” that must be addressed in a targeted and intelligent manner.
Abdollahi said the Iranian Armed Forces had confronted US and Israeli military threats asymmetrically while maintaining the initiative.
Referring to the Islamic Revolution’s influence in the region and beyond, he said Iran had presented a new model of resistance based on what he described as its firm commitment to religious and national values.
“By God’s grace, the world of the future will be different from the world of the past — a difference that will favor the Iranian nation and be accompanied by the definite decline of American power,” he said.
At the end of the meeting, Abdollahi praised personnel working in the media and soft-war fields for what he described as their efforts to explain realities and counter hybrid and cognitive campaigns against Iran.
He said such efforts were comparable to defending national security and urged those involved to continue working to safeguard the ideals of the Islamic Revolution and strengthen public hope.
