Iran's Foreign Minister holds telephone conversation with new OIC Secretary-General
Tehran - BORNA - Iran's Foreign Minister congratulated Hissein Brahim Taha on his election as OIC Secretary-General and wished him success in his new role. Araghchi expressed hope that the new secretary-general would utilize the organization's capacities to strengthen unity and coordination among Islamic countries in facing developments and challenges in the Muslim world.
During the call, Araghchi briefed the OIC secretary-general on the latest regional developments following US and Israeli aggression against Iran, and emphasized the need for a responsible response from Islamic countries to the violation of Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to confront the use of force and aggression.
The foreign minister also referred to the critical situation and challenges facing the Muslim world, particularly the continued aggression and crimes by the Israeli regime in Palestine and Lebanon, stressing the need for firm support for the rights of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and the adoption of united and effective positions by Islamic countries regarding these developments.
Araghchi also invited the new OIC secretary-general to visit Tehran and expressed hope that the visit would take place at the earliest appropriate opportunity.
