China firmly supports Iran's sovereignty, security, national dignity

Tehran - BORNA - Coinciding with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's visit to Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday called on Washington and Tehran to "conduct substantive consultations on unresolved issues" and to reconstruct the negotiation framework "based on the consensus reached since the Islamabad Memorandum."

The Chinese top diplomat stated that this memorandum is a valuable achievement resulting from the mediation efforts of multiple parties and reflects the aspirations of the Iranian nation and other nations in the region for peace and stability.

According to the China Daily newspaper, during his meeting with the Iranian foreign minister, Wang noted that the achievements gained through dialogue should not be abandoned, stating, "The door to negotiations that has been opened should not be closed, and as long as there is hope for peace, it should not be given up."

He stressed that the priority should be resolving disputes through dialogue and negotiation, alongside resuming the implementation of the agreements outlined in this memorandum.

Wang also stated that China, as Iran's comprehensive strategic partner, firmly supports Iran's sovereignty, security, and national dignity. He added, "China will continue to act within the framework of the four-point proposal for maintaining and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, support the mediation efforts of parties including Pakistan, and pave the way for the earliest possible resumption of dialogues."

He further noted that China will strive to properly address issues related to the Strait of Hormuz, improve relations among neighboring countries, advance collective security among the Persian Gulf states, and contribute to the establishment of peace and stability in the Middle East as quickly as possible.

Wang concluded by stating that the continuation of the conflict "is in the interest of no party."
