Araghchi: Iran welcomes diplomatic solutions securing nation's rights
Tehran - BORNA - Heading a diplomatic delegation in Beijing, Araghchi met with Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the country's Foreign Minister, on Wednesday morning.
Pointing to the long-standing ties between the two countries, Araghchi described China as a close friend and strategic partner of Iran. He stressed the Iranian government's firm determination to comprehensively enhance strategic and friendly relations between Tehran and Beijing within the framework of their comprehensive strategic partnership and based on mutual respect and trust.
Highlighting the significance of Tehran-Beijing ties, the Iranian top diplomat noted that bilateral relations are guided at the strategic level by the will of both sides' leaders and existing political trust, adding that Tehran pays special attention to advancing and strengthening ties in various fields.
Araghchi attributed the root cause of the current regional situation to the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran. Noting that the Iranian nation's struggle, resistance, and steadfastness thwarted the aggressors' attempts to achieve their illegitimate goals, he praised China's principled stance in condemning the violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter by the US and the Zionist regime, as well as Beijing's responsible approach regarding Washington's abuse of the UN Security Council.
"While fully prepared for the authoritative defense of national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the protection of Iran's national security and interests against aggressors, the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes diplomatic solutions that secure the rights of the Iranian nation," he emphasized.
Araghchi stated, "The regional situation has undergone fundamental changes following the war of aggression against Iran, and there is no room for the presence and interference of foreign forces in the new regional order, which will be accompanied by dialogue and cooperation among regional countries."
Pointing to the recurrent breach of promises by the American side, including the violation of the provisions of the Islamabad Memorandum less than three weeks after its signing and the halt of its implementation, the Iranian foreign minister said, "While emphasizing our principles and standing firm to realize the inalienable rights of the Iranian nation, we seek the return of calm to the region and friendly, peaceful relations with neighbors, and in this regard, we have initiated dialogue with regional countries."
For his part, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi described Tehran-Beijing relations based on the comprehensive strategic partnership as significant and underscored Beijing's willingness to develop and consolidate ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Describing the US war against Iran as illegal and emphasizing the positions of the Chinese leadership, he stressed the necessity of establishing peace and calm in the Middle East and West Asia and resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy.
Wang Yi also reiterated China's readiness to play a role in de-escalating tensions, supporting dialogue, and contributing to the establishment of peace and stability in the region.
