Pakistan's interior minister arrives in Tehran

Tehran - BORNA - Naqvi arrived at the head of a delegation and was received by Iran's Interior Minister and Foreign Ministry officials.

Ahead of the visit, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the trip was taking place within the framework of bilateral relations, describing ties between the two countries as "very good."

"Our relations, especially in recent months, have seen a growing trend in all areas," Baghaei said, adding that discussions during the visit would cover understandings previously reached between the two countries, including at the presidential level.

Asked whether Pakistan — which has been acting as a mediator between Iran and the United States — would present a specific message, plan or proposal during the visit, Baghaei said: "It is very natural for Pakistan, as a party that has made great efforts during this period, to use every opportunity in its role as mediator to continue its good offices. But as for whether a specific plan is to be exchanged, at least as of this moment, I have no information."
