Iran's Pezeshkian to address UN General Assembly

Tehran - BORNA - Pezeshkian, who departed Tehran for New York on Tuesday morning, is set to speak before the UN General Assembly at around 19:30 Tehran time (16:00 GMT).

On the sidelines of the annual gathering, the Iranian president is slated to hold bilateral meetings with participating world leaders and take part in discussions with prominent political, academic, and cultural figures.

Speaking to reporters prior to his departure from Tehran, Pezeshkian outlined the key priorities of his diplomatic visit, noting that his engagements would center on elucidating realities, addressing the grievances and resilience of the Iranian nation, highlighting crimes committed across the region, and examining developments that have eroded trust in the international arena.

Pointing to Washington's history of breaching international pacts, Pezeshkian stated: "Iran has repeatedly engaged in negotiations and agreements have been concluded; however, despite commitments made, we have witnessed the other side blatantly violate its obligations before the eyes of world public opinion."

"If we seek a secure world anchored in peace and tranquility, the rights of all human beings, nations, and inhabitants of this planet must be respected. Nations cannot be coerced into submission by relying on force," the president emphasized.

The Iranian president's visit takes place as the United States government denied entry visas for the press corps assigned to accompany the Iranian official delegation.
