China wall blocks Iran water polo in Nagoya

Tehran - BORNA - Iran's national water polo team faced China in its second group-stage match at the Nagoya 2026 Asian Games water polo competition today at 15:50 Japan time at Nagoya Stadium.

In the first quarter, China showed a better game than Iran, although Iran's goalkeeper managed to save several good shots. The first quarter ended 4-2 in China's favor. In the second quarter, Iran showed an acceptable performance and the score went to 7-6 in China's favor.

At the start of the second half and the third quarter, the two teams played evenly and the points progressed equally, and the third quarter ended 10-8 in China's favor. In the final quarter, despite the efforts of Iran's national players, it was China that made better use of its opportunities, and the match ended 12-8 in China's favor.

The technical and supervisory staff of the Iranian team includes Sirous Taherian (head of delegation), Mehdi Panamtash (head coach), Amir Houshang Hamrahi and Alireza Shadpi (coaches).

Iran's national players will face South Korea in their third match on Monday, 27 September.
