Emami to face Olympic champ, Azarpira to wrestle Yoshida at Nagoya Asian Games

Tehran - BORNA - Six Iranian freestyle wrestlers are set to compete in the tournament, navigating a challenging path to the podium.

In the 57kg weight class, featuring 21 competitors, Ali Momeni will face Tajikistan's Aiaal Beloliubskii in the first round.

In the 65kg category with 19 wrestlers, Abbas Ebrahimzadeh will take on Sri Lanka's Charles Dilukshan in the opening round. If victorious, he will meet the winner of the bout between India's Sujeet Kalkal and Afghanistan's Samiruddin Zazi in the quarterfinals.

The 74kg division (14 wrestlers) presents a tough opening draw for Younes Emami, who will square off against Razambek Jamalov, the Russian-born 2024 Olympic gold medalist representing Uzbekistan. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals to face either India's Jaglan or Mongolia's Tömör-Ochir.

In the 86kg class, comprising 16 athletes, Mohammad Nokhodi will wrestle Palestine's Rabie Abu Arialeh in the first round. A win will set up a quarterfinal clash against the victor of the match between South Korea's Lee and Thailand's Chiranuwat.

The 97kg category (14 competitors) sees Amirali Azarpira facing Pakistan's Muhammad Gulzar in his first bout. If successful, Azarpira will meet the winner of the match between Japan's Arash Yoshida and Cambodia's Rithi Heng in the quarterfinals. Yoshida, an Iranian-Japanese wrestler, notably defeated Azarpira 4-0 in the final of the Asian Championships earlier in April.

Finally, in the 125kg heavyweight division featuring 12 wrestlers, Amir Hossein Zare will face Japan's Yamamoto in the opening round, with the winner advancing to take on Turkmenistan's Saparov in the next stage.
