Iran bags 39 medals by end of Day 11 at Nagoya Asian Games

The Iranian sports delegation has secured a total of 39 medals by the end of the eleventh day of the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.

Tehran (BORNA) - The 2026 Asian Games officially kicked off on September 19 and will conclude on October 4. Iran's delegation, consisting of 305 athletes competing across 38 sporting disciplines, has thus far claimed 11 gold, 16 silver, and 12 bronze medals.

In the gold medal tally, Iranian athletes showcased outstanding performances across multiple sports. First-place finishes were achieved by Mahmoud Nemati and Morteza Nemati in karate, alongside Soheil Mousavi in wushu. In rowing, Fatemeh Mojallal secured a gold medal, as did the double sculls team of Kimia Zarei and Zeinab Norouzi. The esports eFootball team, comprising Hassan Pajani and Abolfazl Aghaei-Nasab, also stood on top of the podium. Other gold medalists include Mohammadreza Tayebi in the shot put, weightlifters Ali Alipour and Ali Davoudi, kurash practitioner Majid Barimanlou, and Greco-Roman wrestler Amin Mirzazadeh.

Iran's 16 silver medals were claimed by a diverse group of competitors. In karate, the women's kata team, Fatemeh Saeidabadi, and Ali-Asghar Asiabari secured second place. The rowing team contributed significantly, with silvers from Amir-Hossein Mahmoudpour, the national four-person team, and another medal by the double sculls team of Kimia Zarei and Zeinab Norouzi. Wushu practitioners Shoja Panahi, Erfan Moharrami, and Sogand Sinkaei also bagged silver, alongside gymnasts Arman Khodaei and Mehdi Olfati. Furthermore, Zahra Zarei and Ali Amirian in athletics, Ramin Ahmadzadeh in kurash, and both the men's and women's national kabaddi teams added silver medals to Iran's tally.

Rounding out the count, 12 bronze medals were won by Iranian athletes and teams. The men's national basketball team and the 3x3 basketball team both earned third-place finishes. Other bronze medalists include fencer Ali Pakdaman in the sabre event, rower Fatemeh Mojallal, and athlete Sadegh Samimi in the discus throw. In canoeing, the kayak double team of Ali Aghamirzaei and Peyman Ghavidel claimed bronze, as did the mixed shooting team of Hanieh Rostamian and Vahid Golkhandan. Weightlifters Reyhaneh Karimi and Mahsa Beheshti, table tennis veteran Noshad Alamian, kurash athlete Fatemeh Barmaki, and boxer Amir Esmaeili completed the list of bronze medal winners.
