Iran's Foreign Ministry has announced retaliatory measures against the United Kingdom, designating Britain's MI6 intelligence service as a hostile group and the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force as terrorist organizations in response to London's hostile actions against Tehran.

Tehran - BORNA - Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement announcing reciprocal measures against the United Kingdom in response to the British government's illegal and hostile actions against the Islamic Republic.

In the statement issued on Sunday, November 1, the Foreign Ministry condemned the British government's anti-Iranian policies and actions, which violate the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly respect for national sovereignty and the prohibition of unlawful measures against other countries.

The ministry reaffirmed the Iranian government's determination to adopt the necessary measures to safeguard Iran's national security and interests.

Citing a resolution adopted by Iran's Supreme National Security Council, the ministry said the measures were taken in response to hostile actions by the British government over the past year, including its participation in the US-Israeli war imposed on Iran by providing military and logistical facilities and bases under British jurisdiction.

The statement also referred to the British government's July 13, 2026, decision to place the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) under the State Threats Act 2026.

The Foreign Ministry subsequently announced the following measures:

Designation of MI6 as a Hostile Group

Effective November 1, 2026, Britain's Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) is designated as a hostile group under Note 2 of Article 1 of Iran's Law on Intensifying Punishment for Espionage and Cooperation with the Zionist Regime and Hostile Countries Against National Security and Interests.

The provisions of this law will accordingly apply to the British intelligence service.

Designation of Royal Navy and Royal Air Force as Terrorist Organizations

Effective November 1, 2026, Britain's Royal Navy and Royal Air Force are subject to Iran's Law on Reciprocal Action Against the United States' Designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a Terrorist Organization.

Accordingly, both British military institutions are designated as terrorist organizations under Iranian law.

The Foreign Ministry concluded its statement by emphasizing that the measures were adopted in accordance with international law and the principle of reciprocity.

It further stressed that the British government would bear responsibility for the consequences of these measures.
