Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said Sunday that consultations with Qatari mediators over a plan concerning the Strait of Hormuz are ongoing but have not yet reached a definitive conclusion, and that any outcome depends on the answers the other side gives to Iran's questions.

Tehran - BORNA - Speaking to the parliament's news outlet on the sidelines of a meeting of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Araghchi said the consultations are continuing but "we have not yet reached a definitive result, because this result depends on the answers the other side gives to our questions."

Iranian delegation's Qatar trip

Araghchi said a delegation traveled to Qatar at the level of deputy foreign minister, with the aim of continuing consultations with the Qatari mediators who had also been in Tehran in recent weeks.

He said no program for negotiations with the American side had been arranged during the trip.

"At present, the consultations over the two-day plan with the mediators continue and are under way, but we have not yet reached a definitive conclusion, and reaching a result depends on the answers the other side gives to our questions," he said.

"We are doing our part, and we hope there is rationality on the other side so that it prefers diplomacy to other paths," Araghchi said.

Readiness for all scenarios

Stressing Iran's readiness for all scenarios, Araghchi said the Supreme Leader's orders to senior military commanders "clearly demonstrated the Islamic Republic of Iran's will."

"Our armed forces have a fully defined mission and, drawing on the experience of the past two wars, are far stronger than before," he said.

Araghchi said Iran remains simultaneously ready for both defense and diplomacy, "and which path the Americans choose depends on their rationality."
