Hayat Tahrir al-Sham ( HTS ) forces have opened fire on mass protests led by members of Syria's Alawite minority in coastal cities, where crowds took to the streets to denounce HTS -led sectarian violence.

A Britain-based war monitor group says nearly 11,000 civilians, including more than 1,000 women and children, have been killed in Syria ever since militant factions, led by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham ( HTS ), seized power in December.

Demonstrations have swept across various regions of Syria, particularly in the southwestern province of Suweida, in condemnation of mass killings of Alawites in the country’s coastal region, and in protest at Israeli interference in the Arab nation’s internal affairs.
