US President Donald Trump has praised his Russian and Chinese counterparts as “very strong leaders,” calling Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping “tough,” “smart,” and “not to be toyed with.”

The United States and China have agreed to a one-year suspension of retaliatory shipping duties on each other's affiliated vessels, a de-escalation that temporarily defuses a flashpoint in their broader trade and technological conflict.

US President Donald said that he had agreed with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping , that Washington and Beijing would “work together” on a settlement to the Ukraine conflict.

Saturday's trade talks between US and Chinese delegations in Malaysia were "very constructive," a US Treasury Department spokesperson said.
