South Africa will not receive an invitation to next year’s G20 summit in Florida because it is not “worthy” of membership “anywhere,” US President Donald Trump has said, citing alleged abuses against white farmers and a dispute over the group’s rotating leadership handover. Pretoria has called the move “regrettable” and “based on misinformation and distortions.”

Washington should not overestimate its role in the international arena, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said, adding that a wide range of issues can be resolved without US involvement.

Sources report that G20 representatives have agreed on a draft statement for the upcoming summit, despite the United States boycotting the meeting.

President Vladimir Putin will not attend the Group of Twenty ( G20 ) Summit in South Africa on Nov. 21, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
