Kremlin Reacts to Trump’s Anti-Iran Remarks, Vows to Expand Ties with Tehran
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized on Tuesday that Russia remains committed to developing "good and constructive" relations with Iran, stressing Moscow's role in de-escalating tensions amidst the current instability in West Asia.

Tehran - BORNA - Responding to recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, in which he supported new military strikes against Iran, Peskov told reporters: "We are continuing to develop constructive relations with Tehran, including by helping to reduce tensions in this turbulent region."

Moscow Calls for Dialogue, Not Escalation

The Kremlin official underscored the necessity of avoiding any actions that could further destabilize West Asia. "Moscow believes that any move capable of increasing regional tensions must be avoided. We believe that, first and foremost, establishing a dialogue with Iran should be the top priority," Peskov stated.

He added that Russia maintains contact with all parties in the Middle East to ensure that provocative measures do not replace diplomatic engagement.

Drone Attack on Putin’s Residence: ‘An Act of Terrorism’

In a separate part of his briefing, Peskov addressed reports of a massive Ukrainian drone attack targeting President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region. He characterized the attempt as a "terrorist act aimed at disrupting the negotiation process."

"This was not only an attack against President Putin personally, but an attempt to derail diplomacy," Peskov remarked, referencing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent hostile rhetoric. He dismissed denials from Kyiv regarding the strike as "absurd," noting that Russian air defense systems successfully neutralized the "massive drone attack."

Diplomatic and Military Consequences

Peskov warned that such "terrorist actions" by the Kyiv regime would lead to a hardening of Russia's negotiating position, though he noted that Moscow does not intend to make the specifics of its intensified stance public at this time.

"Regarding the military consequences, our military knows how, with what, and when to respond," he added. Despite the escalation, the spokesman confirmed that Russia does not intend to withdraw from the negotiation process and remains open to dialogue, primarily with the United States.

When asked by journalists for physical evidence of the attack, Peskov noted that while Zelensky and Western media are attempting to deny the incident, the specifics of the President's residence security remain a "non-public matter" under current circumstances.
