Lebanese PM Urges Inclusion of Lebanon in Iran-US Ceasefire Agreement
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has called on his Pakistani counterpart to confirm that the recently brokered ceasefire between Iran and the United States explicitly covers Lebanese territory, following renewed Israeli strikes.

Tehran - BORNA - The Lebanese Prime Minister’s office announced that Salam held a telephone conversation with Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif. During the call, Salam expressed his gratitude for Islamabad's mediation efforts but requested official confirmation that the truce includes Lebanon "to prevent a recurrence of the Israeli attacks witnessed yesterday."

Conflicting Interpretations

The request comes amid a diplomatic dispute over the scope of the agreement. While the Zionist regime and the United States have claimed that the truce does not extend to Lebanon—asserting that Israeli operations against Hezbollah will continue—Tehran maintains a different position.

According to the framework approved by Iran's Supreme National Security Council, the two-week ceasefire, which took effect at 3:30 AM Tehran time on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, is intended to apply across all fronts, including Lebanon. Despite this, the Israeli regime has continued its bombardment of Lebanese areas in a clear violation of the broader de-escalation spirit.

The Road to Islamabad

The ceasefire follows 40 days of intense conflict triggered by American-Zionist aggression. Negotiations are set to resume in Islamabad on April 10, based on Iran’s 10-point proposal, which lists a permanent cessation of hostilities in Lebanon as a core requirement for a lasting peace.

The Lebanese government’s outreach to Pakistan underscores the fragility of the current truce as regional stakeholders seek to prevent the Zionist regime from undermining the diplomatic path forward.
