ElBaradei criticizes Trump's efforts to make potential Iran deal look better than JCPOA

ElBaradei wrote in a post on X social media platform: "Trump is desperately trying to show that his new agreement is better than Barack Obama's JCPOA, while this agreement appears to be nothing more than a return to the pre-crisis situation."

He further emphasized that Trump has only caused "killing, widespread destruction, and serious damage to the global economy" during this period.

ElBaradei added: "Needless to say, negotiating with Iran under the shadow of nuclear weapons threats is a surefire way to create insecurity and distrust, and this is precisely the best incentive for any country seeking to go nuclear..."

Despite all of America's breaches of promise in talks and agreements with Iran, Tehran has repeatedly emphasized that nuclear weapons have no place in its defense doctrine and that it has never sought to acquire nuclear weapons.

Previously, Reza Najafi, Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna, said in a speech at the IAEA Board of Governors meeting: "Two joint criminal aggressions by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran in 2025 and 2026, and the clear objectives they openly declared for these illegal wars – namely the destruction of Iran and the seizure of its oil and gas – have made it completely clear that all their claims that Iran is seeking nuclear weapons, and all 25 years of verification, investigations, report publications, and resolution adoptions, were merely a pretext to justify a planned joint aggression."
