Gadi Eisenkot has called for the formation of a national emergency government after Israel's president tasked him with forming a new cabinet.

Tehran - BORNA - Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar party, said the time had come to establish a national emergency government, pledging to devote all his efforts to fulfilling the responsibilities ahead.

Eisenkot had previously stated that if the Likud party and its allies wanted to form a national unity government, they would have to abandon their coalition with far-right parties and join a government led by him.

His remarks followed a call by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the establishment of a national unity government.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Tibi, head of the Joint List parliamentary faction, urged Eisenkot to form a minority government with external support from Arab political parties.

Tibi said the primary objective under the current circumstances was to remove Netanyahu's government from power, accusing it of committing crimes against various groups.

He also emphasized that his parliamentary faction holds a decisive role in the ongoing negotiations over the formation of a new government.
