Araghchi warns of consequences of European trio’s actions against Iran
Tehran - BORNA - Araghchi, who is in New York to attend the annual UN General Assembly, made the remarks during a meeting on Tuesday morning with his Finnish counterpart, Elina Valtonen.
The two foreign ministers discussed bilateral relations between Iran and Finland as well as key international developments, particularly issues relating to peace and global security.
Araghchi pointed to the two years that have passed since the genocide in Gaza, emphasizing that Israel’s ongoing aggression and grave violations of the UN Charter and human rights have destabilized the region. He underlined the legal and moral responsibility of all countries to stop the genocide and confront the regime’s continuous threats to international peace and stability.
Highlighting Iran’s responsible approach toward the nuclear issue, Araghchi warned that any instrumental use of the Security Council by the UK, France, and Germany would undermine diplomacy and further escalate tensions.
The Iranian foreign minister has already held meetings with his counterparts from Austria, Poland, Sweden, Sudan, Oman, and Egypt, as well as IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, as part of his intensive diplomatic consultations in New York.
