Araghchi: The West Has No Standing to Invoke Snapback
Tehran - BORNA - Araghchi met on Wednesday morning with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis. The two sides discussed bilateral Iran–Switzerland relations as well as key regional and international developments.
Araghchi condemned the European trio’s persistence in attempting to exploit Security Council tools, describing it as an illegitimate act with dangerous consequences. He underlined that the E3 and the United States, because of their repeated violations of commitments—and worse, their direct military aggression against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities—possess no legal or moral standing to resort to the JCPOA’s dispute resolution mechanism or to invoke Resolution 2231.
“Their behavior lacks any legitimacy,” Araghchi stated, warning that such destructive actions will cast a negative shadow over diplomatic processes related to Iran’s nuclear issue. He emphasized that pressure politics and violations of international obligations not only erode trust but also threaten the stability of international diplomacy at a critical moment.
By framing Western pressure tactics as both unlawful and counterproductive, Araghchi reiterated that Iran’s stance remains firm: dialogue must be based on mutual respect, while coercion only deepens the crisis.
