Baghaei: U.S. Claim of Seeking Diplomacy Is a Blatant Contradiction
Tehran - BORNA - Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei has strongly condemned accusations made by the U.S. president during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, describing Washington’s rhetoric as hypocritical and self-incriminating.
"When you point an unwarranted finger of blame at others, three fingers inevitably point back at yourself,” Baghaei wrote in a post on X.
Baghaei stressed that baseless accusations against Iran cannot conceal the United States’ direct complicity in the ongoing genocide of Palestinians, its role in organized terrorism, and its support for Israel’s continuous acts of aggression across the region.
He further condemned U.S. officials for boasting about illegal attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, stating: “No matter how they are justified—even when expressed arrogantly and hatefully—such actions only heighten the international responsibility of the U.S. government for committing this criminal and aggressive act, while further exposing the deep-rooted hostility and vindictiveness of America’s rulers toward the Iranian nation.”
The spokesman emphasized that Washington’s simultaneous talk of diplomacy while escalating hostilities is a clear contradiction: “The U.S. claim of willingness for diplomacy is nothing but deception and a blatant inconsistency. You cannot bomb a country’s civilian infrastructure while at the same time claiming to pursue dialogue and negotiations.”
Baghaei’s remarks highlight a broader reality: the United States seeks to mask its military adventurism and support for Israel’s actions in Gaza with rhetorical gestures of diplomacy. Washington’s contradictory posture—professing dialogue while engaging in strikes against Iranian facilities—has drawn widespread criticism for undermining the very foundations of international law and diplomacy.
This contradiction, Iranian analysts argue, exposes Washington’s use of diplomacy not as a genuine avenue for peace but as a tactical cover for coercion, sanctions, and aggression. For many in the Global South, Baghaei’s words resonate as part of a growing challenge to Western double standards, particularly amid rising calls for accountability over U.S. and Israeli actions in the Middle East.
