Larijani: The U.S. has no reason to act as guardian of the Lebanese people
Tehran - ISNA - Larijani told reporters in Beirut on Sunday: “Today is a day for cooperation with one another, as the Islamic world faces a common enemy.”
Hezbollah an authentic movement in Lebanon and the Islamic world
Highlighting the stance of Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem, Larijani said: “Hezbollah is an authentic movement in Lebanon and the Islamic world. Its concern is the well-being of the Lebanese people and it serves as a strong bastion against the Zionist regime. They sacrifice themselves for the comfort of the Lebanese people. Therefore, any political initiative that contributes to this cause is considered useful by them.”
The Resistance is a major asset for the Islamic world
Larijani underlined that “the Resistance movement is a major asset for the Islamic world, especially Hezbollah as an important force confronting Israel.” He added: “The role of Martyr Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah was truly exceptional. What he realized decades ago is now visible across the region. His only crime was understanding the threat of Israel earlier than others, devising a plan, and implementing it, while nurturing a great generation of young fighters.”
Hezbollah and Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah in the hearts of Muslims
The Iranian official continued: “Lebanon may be a small country, but in confronting Israel it is powerful due to the strong will instilled in its younger generation. Therefore, Hezbollah and Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah remain in the hearts of Muslims.”
Intellectual engagement between Hezbollah and Saudi Arabia is the right path
Asked about Iran’s role in fostering dialogue between Hezbollah and Saudi Arabia, Larijani said: “We believe intellectual engagement between Hezbollah and Saudi Arabia is the right approach. Today, you face a major common enemy. The Saudi government is a Muslim government, and Hezbollah is an authentic Islamic movement. Differences should not prevent closeness.”
When asked about remarks by U.S. envoy Tom Barrack claiming Hezbollah receives financial support from abroad, Larijani replied: “I think Mr. Barrack was upset when he said that. In fact, he once got upset even here, in this very place.”
We are prepared for all scenarios
Responding to reports about possible Israeli preparations for another attack on Iran, Larijani said: “We are prepared for all scenarios. But I do not think they would act so foolishly. If they do, we will respond firmly.”
Setting aside differences is a sign of wisdom, not weakness
When asked whether Hezbollah’s opening of talks with Saudi Arabia comes from a position of weakness, Larijani responded: “For Hezbollah to say ‘let us put aside our differences and pursue unity’ is the peak of rationality, not a sign of weakness. That is not our view.”
He added: “In the pager incident, some were martyred and others wounded, yet Hezbollah rebuilt itself. This shows its capacity, as it was able to immediately regenerate replacements. It was precisely this resilience that enabled it to stop Israel’s advance.”
