Moqaddam-Far: If Regional Countries’ Territory Is Not Used as a Base for Attacks on Iran, Strikes Will Stop
Tehran - BORNA - Hamidreza Moqaddam-Far referred to a decision by Iran’s Leadership Council regarding the suspension of attacks on countries in the region and said: “As has been announced, if the countries of the region do not become bases for attacks against Iran, we will have no problem with them. Certain steps have been taken, and based on that we can stop the attacks.”
He also referred to the message delivered by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during a televised interview and said the main point of the president’s message was that Iran would halt missile strikes toward regional countries, provided that their territory is not placed at the disposal of Iran’s hostile and aggressive enemies.
He continued: “From the very beginning we had a clear logic behind these attacks. Even our martyred Imam had previously declared that if aggression were carried out against our country, the war would become regional—meaning that all U.S. interests and positions in the region would be targeted. This is exactly what has happened.”
Moqaddam-Far added that, as the president had noted, after the aggression took place, Iran’s armed forces—who had already prepared for such conditions—carried out the necessary actions.
The IRGC adviser said some regional countries encountered difficulties as a result of the conflict, which he described as natural because Iran’s operations affected their airspace activity and economic conditions.
He stressed that regional countries themselves have not been Iran’s targets and that they are aware of this.
“Our targets have solely been U.S. interests and positions in the region—locations such as military bases, air bases, missile systems, and naval vessels,” he said.
Moqaddam-Far stated that regional countries had repeatedly expressed concern that they were being affected by the conflict.
“We apologized to them from the very beginning,” he said. “The president also stated today that our intention is peace, friendship, and cooperation, and that we have no problem with regional countries—and they know this.”
He added that even before the attacks began, Iran had informed regional countries that it had no dispute with them and sought friendly and deep relations rather than hostility or war.
He continued: “Today they (regional countries) say that they are ready to close the route and that they have informed the United States that they will block access for it. They say: do not attack us so that we can maintain flights, communications, and stability for our people.”
Moqaddam-Far said this position was accepted by the Leadership Council. Therefore, it was announced that if regional countries do not place their territory at the disposal of the United States or allow it to be used as a base for attacks against Iran, Iran will have no problem with them.
“Measures have been taken, and on this basis we can stop the attacks,” he said.
He emphasized that the president had conveyed the message of the Leadership Council earlier today, indicating that attacks would indeed be halted under those conditions. However, Iran will still maintain its presence in international waterways and in areas where U.S. forces are present.
“The president clearly stated that the condition is that no action against Iran should originate from bases located in regional countries. This was the central message,” Moqaddam-Far said.
He added that Iran had repeatedly told these countries that it seeks friendship, while also emphasizing that Iran’s resistance will continue until the end—a point that the president reiterated.
Moqaddam-Far also noted that the president’s message included appreciation for Iran’s armed forces and the unity of the Iranian people.
He said the Leadership Council’s acceptance of this proposal represents significant assistance to regional countries, adding that they must consider their future and avoid allowing their countries to become trapped by what he described as the ambitions and oppression of the United States.
“They have experienced this situation and should no longer accept such humiliation from the United States, which has affected their people, economy, and security,” he said.
He added that even European countries have now reached a similar conclusion, noting that the United States had made significant efforts to bring them into alignment but had failed.
Moqaddam-Far further stated that protests and demonstrations are currently taking place in the United States by elites and political groups who believe the country has become captive to the ambitions of Zionists and the policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with the United States bearing the costs.
According to ISNA, President Masoud Pezeshkian also stated that Iran’s Temporary Leadership Council approved a decision yesterday to stop attacks on neighboring countries.
“No more missiles will be fired at these countries unless an attack against Iran originates from their territory,” the president said.
Pezeshkian also emphasized that Iran has no intention of aggression against neighboring countries.
“As I have said many times, they are our brothers. In this region we must join hands with them to establish peace and stability,” he said.
