High Council for Human Rights: Trump’s Confession to Arming Rioters a Blatant Violation of International Law
The High Council for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement condemning U.S. President Donald Trump's explicit and public admission to direct arms shipments to rioters during the events of December 2025 (Dey 1404) in Iran, describing it as a clear violation of fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter.

Tehran - BORNA - According to the Communications and Information Management of the Judiciary's Deputy for International Affairs and the High Council for Human Rights, the Council expressed deep abhorrence and strong condemnation following Donald Trump’s interview with Fox News (April 6, 2026). In the interview, Trump confessed to sending weapons directly to rioters during the unrest in Iran.

The High Council stated that this confession proves that America’s false slogans in defense of human rights and democracy are merely a cover for weapon shipments, terrorism, destruction, and the violation of the sovereignty of independent nations.

The text of the statement is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

The High Council for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its deep abhorrence and strong condemnation of the explicit and public confession made by U.S. President Donald Trump in an interview with Fox News (April 6, 2026), regarding the direct shipment of weapons to rioters during the events of December 2025 (Dey 1404) in Iran. This act is a blatant violation of the fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter.

Trump’s admission—stating, "We sent guns to the protesters. We sent a lot of guns to them (...)"—strips away the mask of U.S. interventionist policies toward the Islamic Republic of Iran and proves the planned, organized, and armed nature of the recent riots. The U.S. action of sending weapons to the nationals of another country with the aim of subversion or inciting riots is a prime example of interference in internal affairs and a clear violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter, which prohibits all members from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.

The mass shipment of weapons to a country, especially through so-called separatist groups, aims to undermine national security, create chaos, destroy public and private property, and lead to the martyrdom of innocent citizens and security forces. This U.S. action is a clear instance of intervention in internal affairs and a violation of national sovereignty and independence. Furthermore, armed actions facilitated by U.S. weaponry and guidance have led to gross violations of the fundamental Right to Life (Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 6 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights).

The High Council for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran regards this explicit and official confession as a legal admission in the international arena and considers it a legal basis for filing civil and criminal lawsuits against the President and the U.S. government.

The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to use international courts to prosecute these committed crimes under the category of "Crimes Against Humanity." These crimes are also recognized as violations of international law under UN General Assembly Resolution 2625 (Declaration on Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relations and Co-operation among States).

Citing international documents including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Articles 3, 5, 9, 28, and 29), the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (Articles 1, 6, 9, and 20), General Assembly Resolution 33/18 (Declaration on the Inadmissibility of Intervention in the Domestic Affairs of States), General Assembly Resolution 2625, and Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter, the High Council for Human Rights strongly condemns the U.S. armed intervention.

By exposing this confession, the High Council for Human Rights calls upon all international human rights bodies and independent observers—specifically the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Human Rights Council, the Special Rapporteur on Iran, the General Assembly, and the UN Security Council—to:

Formally condemn this action.

Issue an immediate resolution condemning U.S. armed interference in Iran's internal affairs.

Highlight the names of Donald Trump and other responsible U.S. officials as criminals against humanity and war criminals.

The High Council for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran resolutely declares that Trump’s confession is another political and legal scandal for the U.S. government in recent decades. This confession proved that the false American slogans of defending human rights and democracy were only a cover for arming, terrorizing, destroying, and violating the sovereignty of independent nations.

While reserving its right to pursue this crime through all international judicial authorities, the Iranian government warns the United States and all complicit governments that Iran will never retreat from seeking justice, countering state terrorism, and opposing extra-legal interventions.
