Pezeshkian: Iran Never Sought Nuclear Weapons; We Stand Firm on Our Principles
Tehran - BORNA - In a televised interview, President Masoud Pezeshkian detailed the government's economic measures, defense and diplomatic achievements, and the challenges facing the country following the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran. He noted that through the grace of God, the government was able to manage the month of Ramadan and the New Year with price stability and no shortages.
The President stated that the consequences of the aggressive war by the U.S. and the Zionist regime against Iran are now affecting many countries worldwide. "Through divine grace and the efforts of managers and ministers, the Iranian people see no shortages in the market, and prices have remained relatively stable, indicating that the system is functioning correctly," he added.
Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude to Iran's Armed Forces, stating: "I thank our dear warriors who defended the homeland with all their being and brought pride. The U.S. and the Israeli regime imagined they could force us to surrender in a short time through war, but the presence of the people and the valiant defense of our fighters showed that the heroic nation and the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic cannot be easily forced into submission."
He continued: "The presence of the people on the scene of defending the homeland was a display unique in the world. Even the U.S. President claimed this presence was created with Artificial Intelligence because he could not believe that people would appear every night in streets and squares to defend the honor and pride of their homeland. This presence is the greatest backbone of our Iran."
The President recalled the statements of the Leader of the Revolution, noting that the presence of the people and the guidance of the Leader have been a great source of encouragement for the government in continuing negotiations and determining future policies.
Pezeshkian emphasized that with the current trend, he hopes to resolve problems with honor and emerge from this stage successfully. "Thanks to powerful diplomacy, the Israeli regime was forced to declare a ceasefire and has no right to attack Hezbollah or other fronts in Lebanon. This is the effort the Islamic system is making. We also thank our brothers in Pakistan who are sincerely working to guide the process toward our goals while maintaining Iran's dignity."
Citing the fatwa of the martyred Leader of the Revolution, the President reiterated: "We have not been and are not seeking nuclear weapons. We do not seek unrest and terror in the region. We seek peace and defend Iran's integrity with honor. It is the U.S. and the Israeli regime that have dragged Iran and the region into chaos and war by assassinating commanders, politicians, scientists, and students. By committing these crimes, they have become loathed in the eyes of the world, yet they try to portray Iran as the source of regional problems through media and propaganda."
He further clarified: "We stand on our principles and frameworks, and this must be understood by the other side."
Referring to the damages caused by the U.S. and Israeli military aggression, Pezeshkian said: "When we stand firm and fight, we must also accept and endure the hardships of war. It is impossible to fight without any problems arising. The art now is to manage these hardships with empathy and cooperation. If the war ends, we must have an honest dialogue with the people and ask for their help to emerge from the damages with dignity and strength."
The President also pointed to the launch of the "Jan Fada" (Soul Devotees) popular campaign, stating: "Nearly 27 million people have participated in this campaign. They may not need to fight at the front, but they can assist in the social arena. Anyone willing to sacrifice their life for Iran must roll up their sleeves and help their fellow citizens in the face of hardships."
Pezeshkian concluded by saying: "We in the government were present on many scenes during the war and held meetings without publicizing them. People see that the government, ministers, and governors continue to provide services despite all the difficulties, and our people still do not feel like they are in a state of war."
