Iran FM, UN chief hold phone talks on regional developments, NPT review conference
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres held a telephone conversation on Friday night to discuss regional and international developments.

Tehran - BORNA - The two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues, particularly the situation in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

During the conversation, the Iranian Foreign Minister outlined the latest status of the ongoing diplomatic process aimed at terminating the imposed war against the Islamic Republic of Iran. He pointed to the historical record of U.S. bad faith—specifically its repeated betrayals of diplomacy and military aggression against Iran, alongside contradictory stances and persistent excessive demands—as the primary obstacles disrupting the progress of the mediation efforts led by Pakistan.

Araghchi emphasized: "Despite its severe mistrust of the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran has entered this diplomatic process with a responsible approach and utmost seriousness, and is striving to achieve a reasonable and just outcome."

Furthermore, the two officials discussed topics related to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference, which is currently underway in New York.

For his part, the UN Secretary-General rejected the recourse to force against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations, underscoring the necessity of adhering to the principles of the UN Charter and utilizing diplomatic channels to establish peace and stability in the region.
