Araghchi discusses regional security, Strait of Hormuz with New Zealand FM
Tehran - BORNA - During the call, the Iranian foreign minister highlighted the broader repercussions of the recent military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, emphasizing its direct impact on maritime security both within the region and beyond.
Araghchi asserted that the responsibility for the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz rests "directly and exclusively" with the aggressors. He further stressed that the international community must hold both Washington and Tel Aviv accountable for their flagrant violations of the United Nations Charter and their military aggression against a sovereign UN member state.
For his part, New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters expressed his country's support for ongoing diplomatic initiatives, particularly welcoming the Islamabad negotiation track. Peters expressed hope that the security situation and maritime navigation in the region would return to a stable status as quickly as possible.
