Acting Defense Minister of Iran: Islamic countries must prevent Zionist regime's provocations
Tehran - BORNA - Brigadier General Seyed Majid Ibn al-Reza, Iran's Acting Defense Minister, discussed with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler the latest regional developments, the ceasefire implementation process, and ways to strengthen defense and security cooperation between the two countries.
Referring to the ceasefire agreement, Ibn al-Reza stated that Iran signed the agreement to help restore regional stability at the request of friendly neighboring countries. However, given the long history of US bad faith, Iran has no trust in the other side, and the country's armed forces remain fully prepared to respond proportionally to any violation.
He referred to the Zionist regime's crimes in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran, stating that US support allows the regime's continued existence and audacity. He called on Islamic countries to act with unity and cohesion to prevent the regime's destabilizing policies.
Ibn al-Reza also mentioned Iran's proposal for an Islamic world security alliance involving countries such as Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and other Islamic nations. He said the recent war showed that regional security must be ensured by regional countries, and the presence of foreign forces only increases mistrust and insecurity.
He warned against Zionist regime plans to establish so-called security zones in Syria and Lebanon, calling these moves a prelude to expanding the regional crisis. He also noted that recent US statements about opening a new front against Hezbollah in Lebanon could pose new security risks to the entire region.
The acting defense minister stressed that the security of the Persian Gulf must be managed by regional countries, adding that security is an endogenous matter and reliance on extra-regional powers cannot bring sustainable stability.
He emphasized that expanding defense, military, and security ties between Tehran and Ankara would strengthen collective security in the region. Iran is ready to continue joint consultations with Turkey and other regional countries to establish new and sustainable security arrangements.
Turkey's defense minister expressed condolences over the martyrdom of the leader, military commanders, innocent people, and especially the students of Minab, and stressed Ankara's support for the full implementation of the ceasefire and the continuation of diplomacy.
He stated that regional security can only be achieved through dialogue, cooperation, and the participation of regional countries. Turkey supports the territorial integrity of neighboring countries and is ready to expand cooperation with Iran in various fields, including counter-terrorism, border security, and regional issues.
The Turkish defense minister also emphasized that regional cooperation and convergence are the only path to sustainable peace, adding that Ankara will support any initiative that reduces tensions, combats terrorism, and strengthens regional security.
