Tehran - BORNA - The foreign ministry declared that in the early hours of Wednesday, July 8, the US military committed open military aggression by targeting several monitoring and surveillance centers along Iran's southern coast, directly violating Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the United Nations Charter. The ministry emphasized that these aggressive strikes constitute a material breach of Paragraph 1 of the war-ending MoU, which strictly mandates the cessation of all military operations.

The statement noted that these illegal strikes, combined with the US Treasury's recent decision to revoke waivers on Iranian oil sales—a commitment the US administration agreed to uphold under Paragraph 10 of the MoU—have effectively undermined the core foundation of the agreement. The ministry also cited US interference with Iranian maritime arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz and Washington's continued backing of the Zionist regime's military aggressions in Lebanon as additional factors rendering key components of the MoU null and void. Tehran declared that the deceitful US administration bears full responsibility for the dangerous consequences of this escalation.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly reminded all governments, particularly neighboring states along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf, of their international legal obligations to prevent aggressors from utilizing their territories or facilities to launch hostile actions against the Islamic Republic. The statement warned that any cooperation with the US in committing acts of aggression against Iran would be deemed direct complicity in the crime.

Concluding the statement, the foreign ministry strongly condemned the repeated US acts of aggression and broken promises, while reminding the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General of their duties regarding regional and international peace. The ministry asserted that, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, Iran's Armed Forces will not hesitate to defend the nation's territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and security, and will directly target the origin and point of departure of any military aggression.
