US Missile Strikes Civilian Water Plant in Iran, Violating International Law

Tehran - BORNA - According to Ahmad Nafisi, the Deputy Governor for Political, Security, and Social Affairs of Hormozgan Province, multiple U.S. missiles struck power facilities and desalination pumps located at the pier of Boonji village in Jask County on Saturday.

Nafisi stated that operational and relief teams have been deployed to the site to assess the full extent of the damage, secure the area, and initiate emergency repairs to stabilize the drinking water network for the affected rural population.

The bombardment cut off the primary drinking water supply for rural residents across western Jask, forcing emergency technical and execution groups to deploy to the area.

Under international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, attacks on civilian infrastructure—specifically objects indispensable to the survival of the civilian population, such as drinking water installations and supplies—are strictly prohibited. The deliberate or reckless targeting of such vital utilities constitutes a clear violation of international legal frameworks and is classified as a war crime.

Nafisi strongly condemned the attack, branding it a blatant violation of international law and a clear instance of a war crime. He noted that all responsible agencies and operational forces are working together to restore full water access to the affected civilian population as quickly as possible.
