Iranian president tells Japanese premier Tehran acts within international law, hopes Tokyo diplomacy succeeds
Tehran - BORNA - Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Japan’s stance on the necessity of stopping military conflicts, while pointing out that the United States and the Israeli regime have disrupted regional peace and stability through aggression against Iran, the assassination of the Supreme Leader, the martyrdom of numerous civilians—including schoolchildren in Minab—and the destruction of civilian infrastructure.
Pezeshkian affirmed that Iran has always sought to enhance ties with its neighbors and expressed hope that Japan’s diplomatic efforts would bear fruit in restoring regional peace and curtailing further aggression by foreign powers.
Prime Minister Takaichi reiterated Tokyo’s support for diplomatic resolutions to end the conflict, describing such pathways as aligned with the long-term interests of Iran and the wider region.
Takaichi welcomed the progress in negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz, expressing hope that the successful conclusion of these talks would quickly reopen maritime transit through the waterway.
The Japanese prime minister also requested that President Pezeshkian use Iran’s regional influence to prevent escalating tensions in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
During the call, both leaders reaffirmed their mutual commitment to maintaining ongoing dialogue and expanding the historical bilateral relations between the two nations.
