GITEX 2025: World’s Largest Tech Gathering Opens in Dubai with Iran Represented by a Single Company
The world’s largest technology exhibition, GITEX Global 2025, opened in Dubai this week, bringing together more than 6,800 companies from 180 countries to showcase the latest breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and smart mobility. Iran was represented by only one exhibitor among the world’s leading tech giants.

Tehran - BORNA - Held from October 13 to 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, GITEX 2025 has once again positioned itself as one of the most significant international platforms for innovation, knowledge exchange, and investment in the technology sector. The event highlights the growing role of AI-driven solutions and smart systems in shaping future cities and global digital economies.

This year’s exhibition featured some of the most forward-looking technologies in urban development and automation. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority unveiled an AI-powered rail-less tram, a sustainable public transport solution capable of navigating city routes autonomously without tracks. The city also showcased experimental air taxis, offering a vision for reducing congestion and transforming urban mobility. Meanwhile, automated vehicle inspection systems and humanoid robots demonstrated major progress in AI-assisted safety, logistics, and public services.

In addition to the technology showcase, a series of high-profile conferences and workshops were held with the participation of leading international companies, including OpenAI, Microsoft, Samsung, and Amazon. Discussions focused on the future of artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, data analytics, and smart city development — offering a platform for global cooperation and exchange of expertise among policymakers, innovators, and investors.

Despite the vast international participation, Iran’s presence was limited to a single company. Hamrah Aval (MCI), the country’s leading digital economy holding, represented Iran in the main exhibition hall. The company introduced its latest smart digital services, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, and cloud platforms, emphasizing Iran’s growing potential in the global technology landscape and its readiness to engage in international innovation projects.

During the opening ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, underlined the importance of GITEX in positioning the United Arab Emirates as a global leader in innovation and technological progress. He described the event as a world-class platform for showcasing transformative ideas and building partnerships between nations.

With its strong emphasis on AI, robotics, and digital transformation, GITEX 2025 has reaffirmed its position as a global innovation hub. The exhibition demonstrated how emerging technologies can redefine urban life, improve sustainability, and enhance global connectivity. While Iran’s participation was limited, its representation reflected the country’s aspiration to strengthen its presence in the rapidly evolving international technology ecosystem.

The exhibition runs through October 17.
