Iran-China relations longstanding, age-old
Chinese Ambassador to Iran Cong Peiwu has said that the amicable relations between Iran and China is ‘longstanding and age-old’, emphasizing that the two countries have always maintained a healthy and stable ties.

Tehran - BORNA - He made the remarks in the inaugural ceremony of 3rd Iran-China Dialogue Forum held at the Institute for Political and International Studies of the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Saturday, stating that Iran-China relations have undergone many ups and downs since the establishment of relations between the two countries.

On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Iran, “I would like to sincerely congratulate the holding of this prestigious forum, and also express my respect and gratitude to the Institute for Political and International Studies of the Iranian Foreign Ministry as the organizer of this forum, and also to all the professors and researchers who have worked for years to strengthen bilateral relations between China and Iran,” the Chinese ambassador noted.

In a situation where the international situation is characterized by changes and instability, and unilateralism is on the rise, the importance of developing China-Iran relations is of paramount importance for the two countries, region, Peiwu stressed.

China will pursue the expansion and innovation in the trade and economic fields and strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote the Belt and Road Initiative with high quality, the Chinese diplomat underlined.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the ambassador pointed to the necessity of paving suitable ways for organizing the cultural exchange and closer ties between the two countries, adding that China and Iran are both important representatives of the global civilizations and have rich resources for cultural exchanges.

The cultural exchanges between the two countries have considerably been flourished and people-to-people exchanges have also increased significantly, he added.

The two-day third Iran-China Dialogue Forum will conclude on Sunday and features specialized panels and workshops attended by Iranian and Chinese officials, researchers, and academics.

Topics under discussion at this round of the forum include geopolitical developments in West Asia, new capacities for economic and technical cooperation, as well as energy, investment, and food security.
