Araghchi: Non-Aligned Movement Supports Iran’s Position on Snapback
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that the final communiqué of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) foreign ministers’ meeting has included explicit support for Iran’s position on the “snapback” issue at the UN Security Council.

Tehran - BORNA - Speaking on the sidelines of the NAM ministerial meeting held Wednesday in Kampala, Uganda, Araghchi said several key clauses proposed by Iran were incorporated into the summit’s final document, which covers over 1,500 articles addressing global economic, social, and political issues.

According to Araghchi, the communiqué now contains provisions — proposed by Iran — strongly condemning the recent attacks by Israel and the United States against the Islamic Republic. The document describes those attacks as “unacceptable and condemnable” and affirms the solidarity of NAM member states with Iran.

He also noted that the final text includes a separate clause condemning attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities as well as terrorist operations in Lebanon carried out through communication technologies.

“In this document, the Non-Aligned Movement expressed clear support for the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the snapback issue in the Security Council,” Araghchi said in an interview with Iran’s state television. “NAM has reaffirmed that UN Security Council Resolution 2231 remains valid and that its provisions and timelines must be fully respected.”

Araghchi added that according to Paragraph 8 of Resolution 2231, the resolution is due to expire on October 18, 2025, as originally scheduled. “This position essentially endorses the views of Iran, Russia, China, and other countries opposing the U.S. and European claims regarding the snapback mechanism,” he stated.

“The support of more than 100 NAM member states for Iran’s position represents a major diplomatic achievement for our country,” the Iranian foreign minister emphasized.
