Beijing reaffirms: Taiwan has never been separate from China
Tehran - BORNA - Xu Feihong, the Chinese Ambassador to India, posted a message on the X platform stating: "Taiwan has belonged to China since ancient times. The history and legal facts are very clear."
He added: "The Government of the People's Republic of China was established in October 1949, replacing the Government of the Republic of China as the only legal government representing the whole of China. Despite the change of government, China as a subject of international law did not change. The Government of the People's Republic of China naturally possesses and exercises full sovereignty over China, including sovereignty over Taiwan."
The Chinese Ambassador further noted: "Due to the long-term civil war and the intervention of foreign forces, the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have been in a state of long-term political confrontation. Nevertheless, China's sovereignty and territory have never been and will never be divided, and Taiwan's status as a part of China's territory has never changed and can never change."
The senior Chinese diplomat in India emphasized: "Taiwan has never been an independent country, not in the past, not now, and not in the future. Whatever the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities say or do, the historical trend according to which China must and will achieve reunification cannot be prevented."
Relying on historical narrative and international law, China considers Taiwan an integral part of its territory. According to the Ambassador, with the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, this government became the sole legal representative of all of China, and its sovereignty includes Taiwan. Beijing stresses that disputes resulting from the civil war and foreign interventions have never meant a division of sovereignty and does not recognize the independence of Taiwan.
