The Hebrew newspaper Maariv has admitted that the war in Lebanon is ending in total failure, leaving the residents of the northern borders abandoned to their fate.

Tehran - BORNA - A military correspondent and analyst for Maariv stated that the Israeli military is concluding its battle in Lebanon under these conditions: "Israeli forces are withdrawing, Hezbollah continues its attacks, and the ability to respond appears limited due to American intervention, while the northern settlements have been abandoned."

The Maariv correspondent acknowledged that Hezbollah has returned to new equations, while the Zionist regime has regressed to the status quo prior to October 7, 2023—the exact situation Hezbollah had been seeking for the past year and a half.

He further admitted that Hezbollah has succeeded in creating a highly problematic equation for Israel, shifting toward 1980s-style tactics and the activation of martyrdom-seeking groups to prevent the enemy from gaining a foothold or consolidating its presence.

The newspaper’s correspondent conceded that the army is ending its operations with significant defeat and bitterness. The military has withdrawn the 162nd Division, and last night, forces from the Nahal Brigade and the Paratroopers Brigade left Lebanon, with more withdrawals expected in the coming days.

The Zionist publication also noted that the occupying army rushed into its attack against Iran, only to find itself caught between Hezbollah in Lebanon and fire from Yemen. It reported: "The army entered the Lebanese battle with a complete strategic disconnect between the Iranian and Lebanese arenas."

According to Maariv, settlers in the north of the occupied territories have been abandoned due to a "chess game" between the Israeli government and the U.S. administration. The correspondent noted: "The U.S. government has its own intentions and goals for Lebanon, and it is unclear if American interests align with Israel's overall security concerns or the safety of northern residents specifically."

In this regard, Moshe Davidovich, Chairman of the Confrontation Line Forum and head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council, stated that what is occurring in the north is not a ceasefire, but rather a "surrender under fire."

A resident of Kiryat Shmona described the ceasefire as a "mistake," while others pointed to the ongoing closure of shops and intensifying protests, expressing their fury toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Meanwhile, the newspaper Israel Hayom criticized Netanyahu's cabinet, stating that the recent offensive in Lebanon was not "exceptional" but fell within the so-called "rules of the game." The paper wrote that the Zionist regime believed it had caught Hezbollah in a strategic trap, but it was mistaken.
