US Senator: We are in a Much Worse Position Than at the Start of the War Against Iran
Tehran - BORNA - Jack Reed, the ranking Democratic member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in an interview with ABC News on Sunday night: "The United States is in a much worse position since the start of the war with Iran. We are in a much worse position in many ways."
Criticizing the actions and approach of U.S. President Donald Trump, the senior Senator added: "We still haven't solved the issue of nuclear material in Iran. Therefore, President Trump has not achieved his strategic goals, and it appears he has no plan to achieve these goals."
In response to a question regarding comments by Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat from Connecticut, about the possibility of further U.S. attacks on Iran, Jack Reed said: "It is a possibility, but I don't know what the U.S. President will do in the next stage."
He added: "They are certainly prepared for attacks. That is what a military force should be. I don't believe President Trump has a plan. I think this is an impulsive and emotional action by Trump, and in my opinion, he is not being given the necessary support and planning to make wise decisions."
Last week, Senator Jack Reed also had a verbal altercation with U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, accusing him of "dangerous exaggeration" regarding the military successes of the war.
In the continuation of his interview, he clarified: "The language of the law, like a football game, does not foresee 'time-outs.' The President of the United States of America must follow the law. We must be informed. Such notification has not taken place, and the President is ignoring the law."
While Donald Trump was under pressure from Congress to end the illegal war he started, the U.S. President claimed by making excuses that because of the ceasefire, he does not need to obtain authorization from Congress to continue military operations in Iran!
Trump also informed Congress that the war against Iran, which began on February 28, has ended, but emphasized that this does not mean the end of the war and that he will maintain his forces in the region.
The United States and the Zionist regime began their aggression against Iran on February 27 (Esfand 9) of last year while indirect talks with the American side were ongoing. In response to the aggression against its territory and in self-defense, Iran carried out Operation "True Promise 4," targeting U.S. bases in the region and specific targets within the occupied territories.
