Pakistan: We hope current process leads to a lasting agreement
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, welcoming the halt of the U.S. President's plan for the so-called freedom of the Strait of Hormuz, emphasized that Islamabad continues to support efforts to reach a solution based on diplomacy.

Tehran - BORNA - After Donald Trump announced that he is suspending his failed plan titled "Project Freedom" for the Strait of Hormuz, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued a statement welcoming the decision and thanking Trump.

He further noted that this decision was taken in response to the request of Pakistan and other brotherly countries, including Saudi Arabia, which will have a significant impact on strengthening regional peace, stability, and reconciliation during this sensitive period.

Trump announced the suspension early this morning (Wednesday) after his plan to facilitate the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz failed due to Iran's firm positions.

In a post on the Truth Social network, Trump wrote that he made this decision based on the request of Pakistan and other countries.

Shehbaz Sharif added in his statement: "Pakistan remains resolutely committed to supporting all efforts that promote restraint and the achievement of peaceful solutions to conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy."

He also stated: "We are very hopeful that the current process will lead to a permanent agreement to bring lasting peace and stability to the region and beyond."

Following the aggressive attacks by the U.S. and the Zionist regime against the country, officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran have repeatedly emphasized that transit through the vital waterway of the Strait of Hormuz is carried out only in coordination with Iran, and any violation of the established ceasefire in the region will be met with a decisive response from Tehran.

On Monday, General Yadollah Javani, the political deputy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), also clarified in a televised program: "Any type of transit intended to take place in the Strait of Hormuz, if it is by the enemy, will be met with a decisive and crushing response. If there are other ships that wish to transit, they must do so with the permission of the Islamic Republic and our Armed Forces so that their security is ensured."
