Nikzad Details Islamabad Talks: Ghalibaf Confronted Vance with Utter Distrust Following US Attacks
Tehran - BORNA - Ali Nikzad stated that history will undoubtedly record that there was a nation named the Islamic Republic of Iran that came under attack by the treacherous US administration under Donald Trump and the child-killing Zionist regime. Despite their illusion that they could overthrow the Islamic Republic and partition the country within three days, Iran endured, asserted its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, and defended its dignity through public resilience, military might, and the language of diplomacy.
The Deputy Speaker emphasized that leveraging diplomacy requires strict conditions aligned with the public demand. "Our late Martyr Imam once stated that 'Dignity, Wisdom, and Expediency' must guide negotiations. Today, the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, has decreed that 'Reparations, Guarantees, and Punishment of the Aggressor' must be on the diplomatic agenda. Our logic dictates that the language of diplomacy must strictly remain under the mandate and authorization of the Supreme Leader, in accordance with Clause 5 of Article 110 of the Constitution."
The Timeline of US Proposals and Deep-Seated Deceptions
Nikzad disclosed that on February 5, 2025 (Bahman 17, 1403), during the tenure of the 14th administration, the United States sent a message to Iran's late Supreme Leader. "In that message, the Americans demanded that Iran shorten its missile range, dismantle its nuclear program, cease its support for the Resistance, and adhere to their human rights standards. Following this, our late Martyr Imam declared during a public address that 'We will not negotiate with America, and America cannot do a damn thing.' Furthermore, during a meeting in 2025 (1404) with the people of Azerbaijan, he warned that any potential conflict would become a regional war, and if the Islamic Revolution ever faced an existential threat, God would mobilize the nation."
He added that on February 10, 2025 (Bahman 22, 1403), the President addressed Trump directly from Azadi Square, calling out American duplicity: "He told Trump, 'Do whatever damn thing you want; you are liars who assassinate Haniyeh while claiming to seek negotiations.' We had already received our clear directives from our late Martyr Imam regarding nuclear, missile, and resistance capabilities, which remain non-negotiable."
Nikzad accused Trump of persistent lying during recent talks, noting: "Trump falsely claimed he negotiated with a top political and security official who supposedly handed him a 15-point plan. I spoke on television and exposed Trump's lie, challenging him to name the official if he was telling the truth, because Iran has red lines it will never cross."
The lawmaker compared Trump's battlefield failures to historical deceptions, stating that the US president attempted to create division among the Iranian public. "While some internal views suggested presenting a 17-point counterplan, the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, instructed that no response be given. Yet, the lying Trump claimed he received a response via a 5-point plan, hiding the source. Following subsequent administrative reviews, Iran ultimately presented a comprehensive 10-point conditional framework."
Iran's Comprehensive 10-Point Framework and Strategic Demands
Detailing the core components of Iran’s 10-point proposal, Nikzad explained that the plan first demanded absolute guarantees and a binding commitment that no further attacks would be launched against Iran or the Axis of Resistance, emphasizing that Iran remains inseparable from the Resistance. The second critical demand was the immediate removal of both primary and secondary US sanctions, followed by the total exclusion of the Strait of Hormuz from negotiations to ensure Iran’s continued management and regulation of the waterway.
Furthermore, the framework insisted on Iran's right to continue uranium enrichment for peaceful, civilian infrastructure, including water desalination, electricity, industry, agriculture, and medicine, alongside the mandatory payment of war compensations to Iran. Nikzad noted that the plan also provided assurances based on the religious decree (fatwa) issued by the late Martyr Imam prohibiting the creation of nuclear weapons, reaffirming that Iran will not build an atomic bomb.
Finally, a specific clause addressed the Persian Gulf states, emphasizing that Iran has never been an aggressor in history, harbors no ill intentions toward its neighbors, and seeks sustainable regional peace. In this regard, Nikzad remarked that foreign US bases in the Persian Gulf have failed to provide stability or security for these states, a fact they must clearly recognize.
The Standoff at the Islamabad Summit
Nikzad emphasized that Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf never placed any trust in the American delegation. After the 10-point plan was presented to the Supreme Leader and authorization was granted, the Iranian negotiating team traveled to Pakistan. The US delegation included Witkoff, Vance, and Kushner.
"In that meeting, the Americans addressed Mr. Ghalibaf, claiming they had arrived from a position of authority, confidence, and trust," Nikzad stated. "Mr. Ghalibaf firmly responded: 'We have arrived here with authority, but with total uncertainty and complete distrust toward you, because you launched military attacks against us right in the middle of negotiations.'"
The Deputy Speaker concluded by detailing how the US sabotaged the summit by reverting to bad faith demands. "The Americans backtracked, saying they would allow nuclear activities but demanded a 20-year freeze. They also demanded that Iran abandon Oman regarding the regulation of the Strait of Hormuz and partner with the US instead. Furthermore, they claimed Trump insisted on the removal of 450 kilograms of enriched uranium from Iran—this is while they had previously claimed repeatedly to have destroyed Natanz and Fordow, leaving Iran with no uranium."
Due to the escalating tensions and sharp rhetoric during that segment of the session, the meeting was adjourned at 3:00 AM. "Following that adjournment, the American delegation failed to return to the negotiating table. This is precisely why we deem the United States fundamentally untrustworthy. They had initially accepted our 10-point framework, but sang a completely different tune once they sat at the table," Nikzad concluded.
