Iran junior weightlifting teams secure double third-place finishes in Asia

Both the Iranian women's and men's junior weightlifting teams secured third-place podium finishes at the Asian Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with super-heavyweight lifter Mahsa Beheshti named the strongest woman of the tournament.

Tehran - BORNA - The women's national team, coached by Elham Hosseini, scored 470 team points to secure third place in Asia for the first time in history, finishing ahead of Mongolia and Turkmenistan. Host nation Uzbekistan took first place with 558 points, while Kazakhstan claimed second place with 522 points.

In addition to the team standings, the Iranian women's junior squad secured four gold, two silver, and six bronze medals, highlighted by Mahsa Beheshti's dominant performance in the super-heavyweight category, earning her the title of strongest woman of the competition.

In the men's junior division, coached by Sohrab Moradi, Iran finished third overall with 543 team points following a tight battle against Kazakhstan (553 points) and Uzbekistan (549 points). The Iranian men's junior team accumulated nine gold, five silver, and three bronze medals, finishing just 10 points shy of the team title.

Across both youth and junior divisions, Iranian male and female lifters amassed a total of 56 medals, comprising 28 gold, 13 silver, and 15 bronze, with several youth lifters earning medals in the junior category based on their lifted totals.

Individual medalists in the women's division included Maryam Keshtkar (3 bronze), Hajar Moeini (1 silver, 2 bronze), Roya Nourinejad (1 bronze), Hosna Amiri (1 silver, 1 bronze), Hasti Sedighi (1 gold), Haniyeh Sharifi (1 bronze), Nasim Ghasemi (1 gold, 2 silver), Anahita Zarei (2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze), Hamidreza Zarei (3 gold), and Mahsa Beheshti (6 gold).

In the men's division, medalists included Mehrab Davasari (2 silver), Reza Zamani (1 gold, 2 bronze), Mohammad Javad Beiranvand (6 gold), Mohammad Amin Davond (2 gold, 1 silver), Taha Nojavan (3 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze), Pourya Abbaspourian (3 silver), Farhad Gholizadeh (3 gold), and Taha Nemati Moghaddam (2 silver, 1 bronze).
