Gharibabadi: Iran determines its own destiny today
Tehran - BORNA - Gharibabadi, deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, made the remarks in a post on X marking the anniversary of the August 19, 1953 coup in Iran.
“The August 19 coup was a direct intervention by the United States and Britain in the will of the Iranian nation and its right to self-determination,” he wrote.
“This history can neither be whitewashed nor forgotten. Foreign interference in the destiny of a nation, whatever name it may be given, is colonialism and an infringement on the people’s sovereign rights.”
Gharibabadi added that while generations pass, one reality remains unchanged.
“A country that hands control of its destiny to foreigners will pay a heavy price,” he said.
“But Iran today determines its own destiny. Our nation does not retreat under pressure, and in the face of coercion and threats, it stands even firmer.”
