Pezeshkian: U.S. and Israeli Regime Responsible for Any Insecurity in the Persian Gulf
Highlighting the shift in the enemy's pressure tactics toward economic and maritime domains, the Iranian President warned that the responsibility for any insecurity in the Persian Gulf lies squarely with the United States and the Zionist regime.

Tehran - BORNA - The full text of President Masoud Pezeshkian’s message on the occasion of National Persian Gulf Day is as follows:

"National Persian Gulf Day is a reminder of the deep and unbreakable bond between the name, history, and identity of Iranians and this strategic waterway; an expanse that since ancient times has been a hub for civilizational and cultural interactions and a vital artery for trade and energy on both regional and global scales.

This year, we honor National Persian Gulf Day under circumstances where, during the 'Ramadan Imposed War,' the significance of this region—particularly the Strait of Hormuz—has once again become clear to the world. The bravery of the nation’s naval forces demonstrated that this vital passage, in addition to its strategic function in energy transit, is a symbol of national sovereignty and a testament to Iran's undeniable role in ensuring regional and global security.

Today, our enemies have shifted their approach, moving the field of pressure to economic and maritime arenas. They have placed the strategy of 'naval blockade' and creating restrictions on maritime trade routes on their agenda as a new tool of pressure against the Iranian government and people. However, our enemies must know that the Persian Gulf is not an arena for imposing unilateral foreign wills, but a part of the system of international interactions. Its security only gains meaning through collective cooperation and mutual respect for the sovereignty of its coastal states. Accordingly, any attempt to impose a blockade or maritime restrictions is contrary to international law, a threat to the interests of regional nations and global peace, and is doomed to failure.

As we have declared many times, the presence and intervention of foreigners do not contribute to promoting regional security; rather, they are tension-creating factors that disrupt lasting peace in the Persian Gulf. During the Ramadan War, we witnessed that the presence of American military bases brought no security to the host countries; instead, it endangered their peace and security and granted us the right to target the origins of aggression against our territory as legitimate targets.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as the guardian of security in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, remains committed to the principles of freedom of navigation and maritime safety—except for hostile countries. However, it believes that the implementation of these principles must be accompanied by respect for the Iranian nation and its sovereignty. The responsibility for any insecurity in this body of water rests with the United States and the Zionist regime.

National Persian Gulf Day is a precious opportunity to revisit the historical truth that this waterway is an inseparable part of the national identity of Iranians and a symbol of the great Iranian nation's resistance against colonialists, both old and new. Commemorating all the eternal souls whose red blood mingled with the blue of the forever Persian Gulf to preserve this land, we hope that the Persian Gulf remains forever secure, stable, and prosperous—an environment for the peace of its people, free from the presence of foreigners."
