Pezeshkian: National interest dictates completing military victories through diplomacy
Tehran - BORNA - Masoud Pezeshkian, in a meeting today with the Commander-in-Chief and a group of senior commanders of FARAJA, while receiving a report on the performance of this force during the recent "Imposed War," emphasized the necessity of structural and equipment strengthening and the development of the people-based role of FARAJA in ensuring the country's internal security.
In this meeting, after hearing a report on FARAJA’s actions and performance in various fields, including ensuring internal security during the "Third Imposed War," field management of security conditions, supporting public security, confronting threats, as well as the statistics of martyrs, the wounded, and the damages and losses inflicted on the FARAJA collection, the President, while appreciating the round-the-clock, sincere, unpretentious, and responsible efforts and sacrifices of this force during the recent war, stated: "Despite limitations and lack of facilities, FARAJA had an effective, authoritative, and selfless presence in the field of ensuring the country's internal security, and the government considers itself obliged to provide all necessary support in the path of strengthening this collection."
Pezeshkian, emphasizing the need for the modernization and reconstruction of infrastructure and places damaged during the recent war, stated: "The government considers the provision of equipment, reconstruction of damaged centers, and upgrading the operational and support power of FARAJA as its definitive duties and will seriously pursue and provide whatever is necessary in this field."
The President also emphasized the necessity of re-engineering the structure of law enforcement and security forces with the goal of decentralization, agility, upgrading security coverage, and expanding the scope of service delivery to citizens and said: "It is necessary for study and expert groups to become active in this field so that modern models in this field are designed and implemented in accordance with the country's conditions. The government is also committed to removing existing obstacles and facilitating whatever is essential for strengthening FARAJA."
Pezeshkian, pointing to the government's approach in the field of neighborhood-based governance, stated: "FARAJA can play an important and decisive role in this model and, by involving the people in the process of ensuring security, organize security in a people-based and neighborhood-oriented manner."
The President added: "Using popular capacities, social capital, and the active participation of citizens in the field of public security can, in addition to promoting the security coefficient, also strengthen public trust and social capital."
Stating that in the issue of internal security, preventive measures must have priority over negative and reactive confrontations, Pezeshkian clarified: "Within the framework of neighborhood-based governance, the prevention of crime and social harms must start from the context of neighborhoods, and then with a system of care, supervision, and support, FARAJA should play the role of facilitator, coordinator, and supporter."
The President noted: "If people are involved in the field of ensuring security and the sense of social responsibility is strengthened in neighborhoods, without a doubt, the rate of violations, crimes, and social harms will also decrease."
In another part of his speech, reviewing the set of problems, challenges, and events facing the country since the beginning of the government’s work, Pezeshkian stated: "It can perhaps be said that this period of the country's history has been unique and even unprecedented in many dimensions; because we faced a more complex, harder, more unfair, and more unbalanced war."
The President added: "At the same time, despite all the hardships, we are certain that a good and wisdom is hidden in the heart of these events, and when God sees that statesmen, the Armed Forces, and the people are standing in the field of defending the country with sincerity and devotion, He will certainly grant victory and triumph to the nation."
Stating that this war took loved ones from the Iranian nation whose loss is a heavy and irreparable blow to the country, Pezeshkian added: "The place of the Martyr Leader, the dear commanders, and the officials who were martyred in this path is very empty for the nation and the system. Martyrdom was a great and divine grace for them, and for us who have remained, it has left a heavy sorrow and a great responsibility."
The President further, pointing to the country’s conditions in confronting the aggressors and the role of the Iranian nation and the Armed Forces in frustrating the enemy, noted: "The great nation of Iran and the powerful Armed Forces of the country were able, with standing and authority, to frustrate the enemy in achieving its goals and force it to accept a ceasefire and the cessation of the war."
Regarding the paths facing the country, Pezeshkian stated: "Now various options lie before us; either we enter negotiations with dignity, authority, and preservation of national interests and realize the rights of the Iranian nation, or we remain in a state of neither war nor peace, or we continue the path of war and confrontation."
The President emphasized: "The rational, logical preference based on national interests is that the victory achieved by the Armed Forces on the battlefield be completed in the arena of diplomacy as well, and the rights of the Iranian nation be stabilized from a position of dignity and authority."
The President further, citing the luminous words of Imam Ali (AS) in the Nahj al-Balagha, stated: "The Commander of the Faithful (AS) says if your enemy invited you to peace, do not reject it; but after peace, do not be negligent of the enemy and never look at him with optimism and do not trust him."
Pezeshkian clarified: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, based on this, while having distrust toward the enemy, considers negotiation possible from a position of Dignity, Wisdom, and Expediency, and if an agreement is obtained considering the concerns of the Supreme Leader and the interests of the Iranian nation, it will be committed to its covenant and obligations."
