Pakistani interior minister slams U.S., Israeli aggressions against Iran
Tehran - BORNA - During a meeting with Pakistani Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, President Pezeshkian appreciated the role and follow-ups of the Pakistani government, particularly the Prime Minister and the Army Chief, in the process of establishing and stabilizing the ceasefire, expressing hope that these diplomatic and political efforts would lead to the consolidation of sustainable peace, stability, and security in the region.
The President described the military aggression by the U.S. and the Zionist regime against Iran—which resulted in the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, several high-ranking commanders, ministers, innocent students, and citizens—as a major crime contrary to all human, legal, and international standards, emphasizing that these criminal acts are unacceptable to any awakened and free conscience in the world.
Pointing out the sinister goals behind these aggressions, Pezeshkian added: "The main objective of the U.S. and the Zionist regime in attacking the Islamic Republic of Iran was to create internal instability and attempt to weaken and overthrow the Islamic system. However, they never imagined that the great, honorable, and aware nation of Iran would stand beside their country and system with such cohesion, authority, and loyalty."
The President also referred to certain security designs and organized movements by the U.S. and the Zionist regime to infiltrate armed terrorist elements from the northwestern and southeastern regions of the country, stating: "The enemies attempted to transfer insecurity into the country by providing financial, intelligence, and weapons support to terrorist groups. However, the cooperation and responsibility of Iran's neighbors in preventing any abuse of their territory against our country was a valuable and commendable measure. In this framework, I sincerely thank the governments of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq, which did not allow their soil to be used against the Islamic Republic of Iran."
In another part of his speech, Pezeshkian praised the facilities and measures taken by the Pakistani government in border trade and economic cooperation, noting that despite the damages and costs of the war, these developments have brought Iran and Pakistan closer together, presenting a suitable opportunity to expand bilateral relations in economic, scientific, cultural, and regional fields. He also announced Iran's readiness to expand scientific, academic, and technological cooperation with Pakistan through the exchange of students, professors, and scientific experiences.
Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's principled policy of developing friendly relations with neighboring countries, especially the Persian Gulf littoral states, noting: "The Islamic Republic of Iran desires sincere, lasting, and good-neighborly relations with the Islamic countries of the region, but the U.S. and the Zionist regime have always tried to pit Islamic nations against one another through divisive projects and creating mistrust." He stressed that under Islamic unity and integration, the Zionist regime would never dare to attack or commit aggression against Islamic countries.
During the meeting, Pakistani Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi expressed his satisfaction with meeting President Pezeshkian, while reviewing the developments of recent months and the military aggressions of the U.S. and the Zionist regime against Iran. He highlighted Pakistan's efforts to help halt conflicts and reduce tensions, stating: "Today, more than ever, the true dimensions of regional developments and the roles of various actors have become clear to public opinion. Recent circumstances have shown well how true friends and foes are recognized at critical junctures—an issue that can serve as an important baseline for future strategic decisions."
Emphasizing the depth of historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties between the two countries, Naqvi concluded: "Iran and Pakistan have always maintained close and brotherly relations, and today these bonds are stronger than in the past. The Pakistani nation holds deep affection and respect for the Iranian people, and we hope to further expand the level of bilateral cooperation under the will of both countries' leaders."
