We have not reached a final conclusion on an agreement yet: Baghaei
Tehran - BORNA - The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pointing to the trajectory of negotiations with the United States, stated: "Since the beginning of the talks, we have witnessed shifting positions from American officials, and this issue has recurred multiple times."
Esmaeil Baghaei noted that Iran entered the negotiations in good faith, but the United States launched attacks against Iran twice mid-negotiation and further violated the terms during the ceasefire period. He added: "While they speak of negotiation, they simultaneously resort to force and criminal actions."
He stated: "A major portion of the text of the agreement had been finalized, but the problem began when the American side put forward new demands and altered its positions. In recent days, they have also attempted to impose unreasonable demands on Iran."
The spokesperson noted that the Americans are trying to create a false narrative to claim that diplomatic processes have potentially succeeded due to their pressures.
Baghaei emphasized: "The Islamic Republic of Iran will not surrender to the pressures and demands of the opposing side, whether on the battlefield or in diplomacy. If Iran were to back down from its principled positions, it would have done so a year ago."
He stressed that Iran has proven it will not compromise on its red lines and national interests.
Addressing the impact of US actions on the negotiating process, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said: "The diplomatic process has been adversely affected due to the actions of the United States. At the same time, mediators, including Pakistan and Qatar, remain active."
Regarding certain published reports concerning the timing and location of a potential agreement, Baghaei clarified: "The statements made in this regard are merely media speculation."
He reiterated: "Iran has shown that it will make no concessions regarding its red lines, and regardless of the opposing side's rhetoric, it remains focused on securing the interests of the Iranian nation."
He also referred to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, stating: "The status of this strategic waterway has become insecure due to American actions."
In response to a question concerning Trump's claim that a deal had been reached, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson concluded: "We have not reached a final conclusion on this matter so far. The issue is currently being reviewed by the relevant authorities, and once a definitive conclusion is reached, an official announcement will be made."
