Report: U.S. Official Proposed Bombing Nasrallah Funeral, Targeting Civilians
In a staggering disclosure, Israel’s Channel 14 reported that U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus explicitly proposed an airstrike targeting the massive civilian funeral procession for Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, with the objective of assassinating Hezbollah leadership.

Tehran - BORNA - The Israeli Channel 14 network revealed that a senior U.S. government official requested a devastating military strike on the funeral ceremony held at the Camille Chamoun Sports City (Beirut Sports City).

The official was identified as Morgan Ortagus, the U.S. Deputy Special Representative for the Middle East, who according to the Israeli media raised the proposal during a visit to Israel prior to the funeral of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and senior leader Safieddine.

The Israeli report indicates that while the proposal was raised in the context of internal assessments, Israeli authorities reportedly rejected the plan, opting not to carry out the attack. However, the presence of Israeli warplanes observed flying over Beirut during the massive civilian funeral underscored the heightened threat.

U.S. officials have not yet issued a formal denial or response to the claim.

A Defining Act of Recklessness

This disclosed U.S. request for an attack on a peaceful civilian funeral procession, which would have resulted in the indiscriminate mass slaughter of Lebanese non-combatants and mourners, represents the absolute zenith of belligerence and constitutes a severe, undeniable violation of international law. To purposefully target a massive religious and political gathering is not merely illegal but an act of utmost moral depravity and a profound breach of all established human rights conventions.

Context of Diplomatic Relations

The report comes on the same day that the U.S. envoy, Morgan Ortagus participated in a highly sensitive meeting of the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee at Ras Naqoura, on the zero line between Lebanon and occupied Palestine. The meeting was notably attended by Lebanese, French, and Israeli delegations, with an Israeli representative present for the first time.
