Pezeshkian holds phone talks with regional leaders, emphasizes diplomacy and defensive rights
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has held separate phone conversations with his counterparts from Qatar, Azerbaijan, Oman, Turkey, and Egypt, stressing Iran's readiness for a dignified regional peace while firmly defending its sovereignty and expanding bilateral cooperation.

Tehran - BORNA - The high-level diplomatic outreach coincided with the Eid al-Adha holidays, during which President Pezeshkian and regional heads of state exchanged congratulations and reviewed ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore lasting security to West Asia.

In his conversation with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Pezeshkian declared that the Islamic Republic is fully prepared to achieve a "dignified framework" to bring an end to ongoing wars and conflicts in the region. In response, Sheikh Tamim emphasized that Doha will spare no diplomatic effort to support and realize regional peace and stability.

During talks with the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tarik, both leaders underlined the necessity of transforming the ritual unity of the Islamic world into practical, sustainable cooperation. Pezeshkian expressed hope that the collective unity symbolized by the Hajj pilgrimage would strengthen solidarity among Muslim nations to resolve their shared challenges. Sultan Haitham reaffirmed that Muscat remains committed to reinforcing regional stability and Islamic cohesion.

Speaking with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation for Ankara’s principled stance in supporting Iran against recent acts of aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime. Pezeshkian characterized the current conflicts as "imposed upon Muslim nations by external enemies," emphasizing that while Iran will powerfully defend its territorial integrity, it always prioritizes dialogue to secure its legitimate rights.

The two leaders also discussed economic ties, with Pezeshkian calling for the removal of commercial barriers at shared borders and praising Turkey’s constructive cooperation in road and rail transit. President Erdogan welcomed the ongoing negotiations to end regional hostilities and vowed that Turkey would rigorously continue its diplomatic endeavors to foster regional integration.

In a significant call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Pezeshkian outlined Iran’s defensive posture, clarifying that Tehran’s recent actions were carried out strictly within the legal framework of legitimate defense aimed at repelling attacks against its positions. Looking ahead, Pezeshkian stated, "We are confident that after passing through this volatile phase, a new chapter will open in Iran's relations with regional states, driven by Islamic unity and the rejection of foreign intervention." President el-Sisi expressed Egypt's staunch support for the ongoing diplomatic tracks aimed at terminating current tensions and establishing sustainable peace.

Furthermore, President Pezeshkian reviewed bilateral relations with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. During the call, Aliyev emphasized that Baku and Tehran stand firmly alongside each other "in both good times and difficult conditions," as both leaders exchanged views on the future expansion and development of Iran-Azerbaijan ties.
