Iran's Leader Appoints New Top Military and IRGC Commanders
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, issued separate decrees on Monday announcing new appointments and assignments for six high-ranking commanders and officials across the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the Basij Organization.
Tehran - BORNA - Under the new appointments, Maj. Gen. Pilot Ali Abdollahi has been named Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, with Brig. Gen. Kioumars Heydari serving as Deputy Chief of Staff.
Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi was promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC, while Maj. Gen. Mostafa Izadi takes over as Deputy Commander of the IRGC.
Additionally, Rear Adm. Ali Ozmaei was named Commander of the IRGC Navy, and Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Hossein Taeb was appointed head of the Basij Resistance Force.
