Iran-US Talks Begin Co-chaired by Ghalibaf, Vance
The negotiations between the diplomatic and political delegations of Iran and the United States have officially commenced at the "Bürgenstock" Hotel, with the participation of Pakistani and Qatari mediators.

Tehran - BORNA - The Iran-US talks, attended by high-ranking officials from Qatar and Pakistan as mediators, began on Sunday afternoon in Switzerland.

The negotiations are being held at the "Bürgenstock" Hotel overlooking Lake Lucerne on the outskirts of Zurich. Prior to the official start of this quadrilateral meeting, the American and Pakistani negotiating delegations entered the conference hall before the Iranian delegation arrived.

Vance Notes Significant Progress Ahead of Talks

In remarks delivered before the official commencement of the plenary session, US Vice President JD Vance stated: "We have made significant progress in negotiations over the past two hours."

The US Vice President added: "The Strait of Hormuz has been opened, and we look forward to further actions. The free flow of oil and gas in the Middle East must be guaranteed."

The Iranian negotiating delegation in these talks is led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, while the US delegation is headed by JD Vance. Furthermore, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Qatar, are also present at the negotiation table.

Iran Focused on Commitment-for-Commitment Principle

Esmaeil Baghaei, who is present in Switzerland as the spokesman and a member of the Iranian negotiating team, emphasized on Sunday morning that the main objective of this meeting is to ensure the implementation of the opposing side's commitments according to the June 18 memorandum of understanding (MoU) and to review the fulfillment of the necessary preconditions for starting negotiations on a final agreement.

Pointing to the instructions issued by the officials of the Israeli regime to halt the invasion of southern Lebanon, Baghaei stated: "Yesterday, a fragile halt was created, which was the product of close cooperation between the diplomatic apparatus and the field, and this cooperation continues."

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman reiterated Iran's emphasis on ending the war in Lebanon and stopping the Israeli regime's occupation in the region, declaring: "Our principle is commitment for commitment."

He further stressed that Iran's meetings with the mediators are highly substantial rather than ceremonial, adding: "I do not think the talks will continue beyond today, and currently the planning is for a one-day dialogue."
