Araghchi meets French counterpart over nuclear talks
Tehran - BORNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The meeting followed recent talks between the presidents of both countries and focused on Iran’s nuclear issue and diplomatic efforts to prevent the unjust reactivation of previously lifted UN Security Council resolutions.
On Wednesday, the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in New York, with the French side writing in a post that he had told the Iranian side a deal was still possible.
Meeting with Macron was Pezeshkian's first meeting with the leaders of other countries present in New York. The issue of continued cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency and the snapback mechanism were among the most important topics of discussion in the meeting, as reported by local Iranian media.
After the meeting, Macron took to the X to post that he had conveyed the European alleged concerns over Iran's strained ties with the IAEA, reiterating the Europeans' illegitimate demands.
"An agreement remains possible. Only a few hours are left. It is up to Iran to respond to the legitimate conditions we have set," the French president wrote in his post.
